Well who knew time could travel so fast! I'm already done with my first year at college! What a semester it has been really... A lot of sleepless nights, disappointments, achievements, happiness, sadness, adventures and ofcourse SHEETS! Its been two months and I'm back in college after a long and lethargic summer break. The two months at home were mostly spent lazing around the house and meeting high school friends. The only productive work I did was join Autocad classes and meet the Architects at my dad's office. I learnt a lot by interacting with the Architects who were really glad to share their knowledge and experience with me. As my first year passes, it leaves just four more now. I hope I learn a lot more, experience a lot more and enjoy college. I hope relations become stronger with each passing year...

Kiddo days were so much fun! No care in the world, a mind free to think, do and dream! Cherishable days truly... I wonder if i'll ever be able to think the way I used to as a kid, wonder about things in the world, question everything, be curious about everything, adventurous, active, fun. Those innocent minds ready to capture and gain as much as they can grasp at a time. I miss it, the way I used to be... Ahh those kiddo days... when will they come again?

This was a complete unplanned trip! We got around 4-5 days off for Diwali and most of us girls decided to stay and sulk in hostel, except the ones staying in Himachal. Friday morning, Vidisha shakes me up from my sleep and says, " Pack your bags! We are going to Mandi!" I was half asleep when she dragged me down to the office to get the outpass form( I didn't even brush!) We came back, did all the morning chores, and started packing. Our bus left at 12:30. We reached just in time, one minute late and we would have missed it. And what a journey it was! It took 5 hours to reach Mandi, with me gasping the entire time seeing the picturesque hills and valleys. The step(or terrace) farming they do in hilly terrains look so beautiful, you just can't take your eyes off them! view on the way to Mandi Mandi is situated in a valley through which the river Beas flows. And another year passes by in the blink of an eye... What an year it has been. I had never imagined that it would turn out to be so happening! There I was at the start of the year bored and unhappy with my life as a 12th grader and here I am at the end of the year- a first year B.Arch student at NIT Hamirpur! I had never anticipated I would land up here! Traveled north, south, east, and west of India, to finally settle in the north for the next five years! :D At the start of the year I was in the normal teen phase-bored with studies, not interested in anything but chatting with friends, slouch the entire time, watch anything and everything that was showing on the television, listen to music till the crack of the dawn, and what not! Then there was this study phase-the entire month of March! And I did some serious studying that time-I really did. April and May was a busy phase too with filling forms for various colleges, arguing with my dad about my choices... I even went to...

What makes us think? A free mind... which has been difficult to attain in the past few months... My thought process has come up to a diminishing level after coming here. I used to be a very vivid thinker once... I am just trying to be one again. Following the daily monotonous routine of our lives, architecture students who are known to be the creative lot of our college, are losing their creative abilities. Working day and night, we walk like zombies to the college. Architecture is a subject that deals entirely on your creative ability which can only come when we are exposed to certain ideas and given enough time to think of something creative. I need time...I came in this field by my choice and now sometimes I question myself- This was what I wanted? Seriously? I just need time to think...   So  when you have time, THINK.

Its been almost 2 and a half months since my college life started. Days have gone by adjusting in the new phase of my life. Its a whole new independent experience which is going to play a huge part in my life. Hostel life has been real fun and exhausting as well( cleaning your room, doing the laundry- stuff that mum used to take care of- are added burdens). You miss your family A LOT, mom the most. I became pretty attached to my mother in the last 2 years, that's the reason why I miss her the most!(also she used to take care of half the problems in my life!). Plus the workload on architecture students is a lot, really! There are numerous sleepless nights, hours spent standing in the studio and working 'cause the stools are uncomfortable, and lunch that we skip to complete our sheets. At the end of the day we finally return to our rooms just to find the bed untidy, with a pile of clothes on one end and the bedsheet and blanket half rolled up in the other... Enough blabbering ...

Well as I'll be going far away from home and from my mum who has been amazingly supportive throughout my life, I decided to dedicate this post to the world's greatest mom and boast about how much I love her! :) This post is gonna contain the pics of all the recent cards I made for her. She has preserved each and every card that me or my sister made, even the ones we made when we were 6-7 years old. :) This one was for her most recent birthday that was on 24th July. It was actually a surprise for her. I was finally successful in hiding the card! My mum could always figure out that I was making a card for her, she would definitely come and get a sneak peek of it! But this time I managed to hide it from her. A very simple card with three butterflies made by quilling strips, I wanted it to be sweet and simple and it turned out well. :) This one was for this year's Mother's Day.
